New York State Wildlife Rehabilitators

Home

Below is a listing of New York State wildlife rehabilitators ordered by DEC Region, county and town.  Additional rehabilitators may be found by contacting the regional Department of Environmental Conservation office.  This is not the complete list of rehabilitators. NYSWRC maintains this list for the convenience of the public and makes no claim to be able to evaluate their respective levels of skill.

Note that wildlife rehabilitators must be federally licensed to rehab migratory birds (songbirds, waterfowl, raptors, etc) but without the federal permit may accept non-migratory birds (European starlings, pigeons, house sparrows, northern bobwhites, mute swans, monk parakeets, partridges, ring-necked pheasants, grouse, and turkey).  They must be RVS certified to accept skunks, raccoons or bats.

We offer educational programs to the general public and training classes for rehabbers and volunteers.  Call or email for a schedule and information.  We keep a list of local rehabbers and their area of expertise, and operate a hotline where the public can get advice and referrals.  We encourage all rehabbers to contact us with their information.  This seems to work better than having people call a dozen numbers of people who do not handle that type of animal, or who are full to capacity or on vacation.

Still fairly new at all this; we deal mostly with "urban wildlife" -- lots of pigeons, the occasional sparrow or squirrel (the latter quickly passed along to others more knowing than we for better long term care).

It is Divine Nature's policy to follow up with you and give you a status on the animals you bring to us for rehabilitation. Here at Divine Nature, we believe if you have taken the time to bring us wildlife in need of care, we can take the time to contact you to give you an update on how the wildlife is doing.  After all, without your kindhearted compassion, the wildlife you bring to us may not have had a chance.
Divine Nature also provides educational programs to young people and adults, depending on our schedule.
